Travel Information for International Delegates The nearest airport to Headingley campus is Leeds Bradford (LBA) (15 minute taxi journey to the campus and conference hotels). There are flights to and from destinations across Europe, and New York. A full list of destinations can be found here: http://www.leedsbradfordairport.co.uk/flightsandholidays-allflights.php Below are links to the websites of three of the main low cost carriers that operate from Leeds Bradford: http://www.flybmi.com/bmi/en-gb/index.aspx http://www.jet2.com/ http://www.ryanair.com/en The nearest major international airport to Leeds is Manchester (MAN), with transit from Manchester Airport railway station to Leeds railway station taking approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. If you are travelling from Central or Eastern Europe, or from Scandinavia, the best and cheapest option may be to fly to Stansted (STN) with Ryanair (http://www.ryanair.com/en) and catch a train from Stansted Airport railway station to Leeds (3 hours 30 minutes with one change at Peterborough). If flying to London Heathrow (LHR) or London Gatwick (LGW), you will need to get to London Kings Cross or St Pancras railway stations (these are effectively one big railway station as they are next to each other). From London Heathrow, take the London Underground Picadilly Line to Kings Cross St. Pancras (approximately 45 minutes). From London Gatwick, take the Gatwick Express train from Gatwick Airport railway station to London Victoria railway station (approximately 30 minutes), then the London Underground Victoria Line to Kings Cross St. Pancras (approximately 15 minutes). The train journey from Kings Cross/St. Pancras to Leeds will take between 2 hours 30 and 3 hours. On arrival at Leeds station, take a taxi to Headingley (15-20 minutes, £8.00-£12.00 depending on the time of day/traffic), or a bus from outside the station. Booking Train Tickets Train travel in the UK is expensive if purchased on the day of travel, so it is recommended to book train tickets in advance. You can do this at: http://www.thetrainline.com/buytickets/ Make sure to check the terms and conditions of the tickets that you buy, as some fares are only valid for a specific service or journey time. Fares such as the super off peak return will give you more travel flexibility. You can book train tickets three months in advance from the date of travel. Road Travel To Leed Metropolitan University
